Copenhagen Ecommerce Unboxed Summit
Earlier this week, I joined 40 European Digital & Marketing senior leaders in Denmark at the Synergy Ecommerce Unboxed Summit…
3(coreXtrends):
*The International Scaling Reality
Aron Gelbard (CEO, Bloom & Wild) shared good insights on localised growth + ‘caring wildly’. Their proposition, for example, scaled well in Germany because ‘Britishness’ + distinct USPs resonated strongly. However, they faced headwinds in France due to a lack of a local anchor + trust affirmation.
…International expansion is rarely a copy > paste exercise. It demands local customer centricity, acting directly on feedback loops & tracking > optimising leading + lagging indicators.
*The Omnichannel Activation Gap
Casper Holt (CEO, IMPACT Commerce) previewed the Omnichannel Index 2026, developed alongside Google. Benchmarking over 370 brands across 74 touchpoints revealed a large divide between high level design and practical execution = the Activation Gap.
The data is there, but the activation sometimes isn’t. This gap represents the single biggest untapped opportunity for decision making enablement. True leadership in this next era belongs to those translating AI into frictionless customer journeys, rather than treating it as a technical POC or a pure cost reduction play.
*The Future of Work: AI
The “hallway” conversations were arguably the most valuable. While there is understandable unease around automation (AI) risks & redundancies; this is far from a doom & gloom narrative. AI will also act as a job creator, shifting us into a powerful era of (human+machine) partnership.
To thrive, our teams must focus less on pure execution and more on what Bhoopalan calls the ‘Four Human Superpowers’:
1/Emotional Intelligence
2/Creative Vision
3/Physical Dexterity
4/Ethical Judgement
The ultimate winners will not be those trying to out compute the technology. The future belongs to leaders who manage the macro strategy, co-create alongside AI (2 + 2 = 5), set the ethical guardrails & inject deep human context into the tools.
