CDP World Reflections
I have just attended Treasure Data’s 3rd annual CDP World conference in Las Vegas centred on how AI is reshaping the use of customer data.
Across two days the message was clear; intelligent orchestration starts with strong data foundations and trusted governance.
Day 1 – The Rise of Agentic AI
The conversation opened with the “age of small agents”. These AI-driven assistants are fast becoming the backbone of marketing orchestration, but their power depends entirely on being grounded in good data & ethical guardrails.
Hilton and Universal Music Group showcased what’s possible when trust and simplicity underpin personalisation at scale.
For me, the reminder was simple: great data + clear purpose + senior leadership support = cultural change that outlasts the technology.
Day 2 – The Marketing Super Agent
Day two moved from theory to practice. Treasure Data previewed their “marketing super agent”; a central AI designed to manage multiple smaller agents across the CDP. Early use cases are compelling, from campaign ideation to LTV nurturing.
The candid conversation between CEO Hironobu Yoshikawa and LA Galaxy captain Maya Yoshida stood out. Their discussion on leadership, Kaizen and learning through failure struck a chord. “Data gives us a language to understand others” > a powerful takeaway for both sport and business.
AWS’ Eugene Kawamoto showcased Amazon’s perspective on “customer obsession”. AI agents like Rufus, Alexa+ and Maestro are already redefining the customer experience.
The distinction between using prompts in AI/ LLMs, to taking data to AI or AI to data summed up the future direction; and Treasure Data’s approach clearly leans toward the latter.
Summary
AI is accelerating how we use data, but it’s trust, people and purpose that still determine progress. As the lines blur between data management, orchestration and automation, the next evolution of customer experience will belong to those who integrate AI thoughtfully and lead with intent.
